So i randomly thought about the matrix theory the other day and how it applied to life... geeky... yeah i know. but like remember how one of the guys backed out of the real world because he just wanted to be locked into the matrix and not know anything about the real world or what it could be because he thought he would be happier...... maybe the same is true for real life. what if someone was happy with what they had already and never sought more because either they were unmotivated or just content with what they had and they never seeked more. what if those people all of a sudden could see the possibilities? would they still be content? not sure where im goin with this but then again maybe my thoughts never come to a conclusion anyway.

Golf Balls

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 glasses of wine theory. A professor stood before his philosophy class with some items on his desk in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly.

The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was. The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous 'YES.' The professor then produced two glasses of wine from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed. 'Now,' said the professor, as the laughter subsided, 'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.

The golf balls are the important things; your family, your children, your health, your friends, and your favourite passions; things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, and your car. The sand is everything else; the small stuff.

If you put the sand into the jar first', he continued, 'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the good things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups.

Take your partner out to dinner. Play another 18 holes. Travel to a new destination. Learn a new language. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the things that really matter, set your priorities. The rest is just sand.' One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the wine represented. The professor smiled. 'I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of glasses of wine with a friend.'"

Sizzler

I've seen Sizzler commercials all the time. Ever since I was 7 years old, I've wanted to go. I went and ate steak and endless shrimp. Turns out, it's not as great as i thought. Comparable to hometown buffet without the all you can eat meat and double the price. I felt sorta sick after i ate it all too. Having completed Medieval Times this past year... i think i can finally say i've done everything ive wanted to do since i was a kid. Even though im still feeling sick, i think im gonna sleep happy tonight. good night.

Spider

There is definitely a spider living inside one of my side mirrors on my car. It spins this web around half of the mirror part all the time. At first I kept on cleaning it but it kept coming back. I've noticed it since October 2007. I think im just gonna let it ride and see how long that spider will make my car its home.

Changes comin up soon

http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/SmartSpending/ConsumerActionGuide/WhereHasAllTheHelpGone.aspx

So after reading that article about how customer services would probably change in the coming future I began to randomly think about other things which we may find changing. Of course you might not ever know but it could possibly happen. Listed or the few things that ran through my head.

1. Newspapers – The internet has bombarded our everyday lives and the use of newspapers may become outdated by things like cnn.com. Also the elimination would probably help the environment. Maybe the novelty of having the actual hard copy of news and reading it in the morning with the simplicity of not turning on a computer might prevail… but maybe not.

2. Coupons – Along side with newspapers this for sure is going away. I think in the coming years, they are going to offer discount coupon cards where you find the online coupon and type in the code for your card and then when you get to the store, just give them your card and you’re done. We’ll see what happens.

3. CD’s and DVD’s and Blu-Ray – This option might be kind of far fetched, especially with Blu-Ray being so new and all but with all the advances of portable storage, isn’t it possible we could just use portable storage things to store our media. The discs also scratch easily…But then again, maybe the novelty of having an actual something might prevail.

4. Manual Transmissions – It used to be that buying a manual transmission meant that you would get a cheaper price, increased gas mileage and better reliability. All you had to do is learn how to drive a manual transmission. But cars are being made so much better that reliability won’t become so much of an issue. Automatic transmissions are being made so well that they get almost equivalent gas mileage. Maybe for those who like the control of stick and like to race and stuff would always want one. So maybe the possibility of it fading out completely isn’t coming, but the reduction of production is.

5. Landline telephones – Because we all have cell phones? And their reliability and dependability will keep getting better?

Just a few things that came to mind right after I read the article.

Gas and Del Taco + AMEX

So today I went to del taco for their taco Tuesday deal. $1.09 for 3 tacos is better than awesome. turns out they now take credit card. i used my american express and then the lady said i needed to use my amex card twice more to get 4 free movie tickets in the mail. so two more taco tuesdays and im there!

Have you ever driven by a cop that was using his radar gun and your foot automatically let go of the gas pedal in fear of going too fast? today it happened to me... but there was no cop...... i was driving by the chevron where i usually pump gas and i noticed there was an 18 cent increase from the last time i pumped then the instincts kicked in. I also said holy s**t. $3.69 gas... wow. and some say it could get up to 4 dollars.

Why people are who they are

Have you ever thought about certain people and why they are how they are? like how come some people are so mean all the time, or why some people are so nice all the time? or why some people are so ambitious and some people are so content? ive actually been thinking about this alot actually. especially at night and on the way from home (traffic's a b*tch). i ran into this msn article i read on why some people hoard animals. interesting. it also sort of drops hints on other types of personalities and why they occur. i will be looking more into this... or probably just thinking about it more.

Solitary Confinement

Prision is probably one of the worst places you can be. sometimes i read the news about people that commit really terrible crimes and are sent to life in solitary confinement. recently there was this child murderer that had the choice of death or solitary confinement, and it sorta made me think. would you rather be dead or spend the rest of your life alone with nothing to do? but yeah pretty interesting to me. solitary confinement is also like a punishment for prisioners that misbehave. they could be sent for weeks at a time. ive read some articles that state it either makes prisioners go crazy or depressed.

Garrapata

Went hiking recently. way cool at garrapata state park. definitely really challenging for a novice like myself. at some parts it was really steep and tricky to get up and even trickier to get down. lotsa climbing and sliding. i took a trail that went up this huge mountain and swung around it down into this forest solace. pretty sore still. it was like a 5 or 6 hour hike and probably one of the best ive ever done. gonna be lookin out for new trails.

Walnut Creek, Ca

Over the weekend i went to visit a friend in East bay/Walnut Creek area. i can say without a doubt there was not a moment that i was not entertained. driving down the long stretch of shops and restaurants was really cool. it had like a hip and trendy downtown feel yet it felt safe and modern. it was raining and still alot of people were out walking around. super highly recommended.

Wednesday, January 30, 2008

So last night after i made dinner and ate, i was flipping through channels and started moving on to the movie channels. with the movie channels, i had the usual choices of: the fast and the furious, the sentinel, breach, star wars, and 16 blocks. surprisingly i saw a movie that wasnt one of the usuals and it was just starting so i watched.

the movie is about this guy that is wrongfully convicted and his journey through prision. i thought it was sucha great movie because it was so inspiring. i wont tell the story and ruin it but i recommend it to everyone.

What a shame to die at such a young age. I remember watching him in the Patriot. Totally loved the movie and i thought he played his role well. Turns out he is going to be the next joker in the batman series. What a premiere that would have been for him.
